Overview
The York Region Administrative Centre, built in 1992, is a four-story building with a basement, serving as the main administrative hub for York Region. The building covers about 450,000 square feet and features aluminum-framed strip windows and curtain walls with brick veneer. This project focused on rehabilitating all aluminum frames around the facility and replacing the insulating glazing units to improve the building’s performance and appearance.
Our Approach
We worked closely with the Region’s staff to minimize disruption, especially since the building was fully occupied and included live labs with large mechanical equipment connected to the windows. Window removal and installation were carefully coordinated to avoid inconvenience. Access to different building elevations required a mix of scaffolding, genie booms, and swing stages, ensuring safe and efficient progress throughout the project.
