Overview

The McMurrich Building, located on the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus, is a designated heritage building originally completed in 1922 and home to the University’s Space Management and Campus & Facilities Planning offices. This project focused on the removal of existing site infrastructure, including concrete curbs, sidewalks, foundations, retaining walls, asphalt, fencing, gate systems, and associated granular materials, to prepare the site for future improvements. All work was carried out within a busy institutional campus while maintaining safe access and minimizing disruption to daily operations.

Our Approach

Our team carefully planned and executed the demolition and site preparation works with a strong emphasis on public safety, traffic management, and protection of the surrounding heritage property. Through phased operations, controlled demolition methods, and continuous coordination with the University, we maintained safe pedestrian and vehicle circulation while completing the removals efficiently and preparing the site for the next stage of redevelopment.
